La Cocina de Tita Moning
Relive Manila’s most elegant eras
One of the country’s most unique dining experiences is hidden in a 73-year-old Legarda ancestral home close to Malacanang. Here at La Cocina de Tita Moning, you don’t just eat. You go back in time… then take your time enjoying heirloom recipes passed on from generation to generation and elegantly served on china, glassware and silverware.
For this limited-time offer, slip back into the 1930’s and enjoy La Cocina’s turn-of-the-century fine dining experience for 2 at the price of 1.
In fact, going back in time begins before you eat. As you enter the mansion’s foyer, the hostess greets you and takes your party on a guided tour in English. While you go from room to room, you’ll be charmed with all the priceless works of art, artifacts from Dr. Legarda’s clinic, his wide collection of photographic and radio equipment and well-preserved articles of clothing. Prior to dinner, cocktails are served at the patio.
After the tour and cocktails, your chosen 4-course dinner of Tita Moning’s heirloom recipes is served by a very attentive staff, which is headed by Aling Tining. She is the epitome of the personal touch that goes with the whole La Cocina experience.
Dinner is unique and personal the moment you call to reserve, as Aling Tining usually picks up the phone and asks you to pick which 4-course menu you’d like prepared for you. To guide you, Deal Grocer members can pick from 3 of the Bestselling Menus found here.
Clearly, this is a one-of-a-kind experience to share with loved ones, history buffs, foodies or anyone who’s tired of the commercialized restaurants in the metro. After all, dignitaries and celebrities have raved about the food here for a decade now.
Now, it’s your turn.

One of the most unique dining experiences available in the Philippines
I think La Cocina is one of the most unique dining experiences available in the Philippines... The whole experience is like stepping back in time. The restaurant is actually the Legarda house located in the heart of Manila just a few streets away from the Malacanang Palace... If you love history and if you love good food, make your way to La Cocina de Tita Moning.Rajo Laurel
At a time when new eating places are cropping up, there’s something about this real ancestral mansion that offers something that can’t be manufactured, fabricated or replicated. Maybe, it’s the sense of place. Or maybe, a sense of history that only the years can stew and offer to the diner… I’ve tasted my fair share of paellas but the one at Tita Moning was really a revelation. The rice was cooked just right, the use of olive oil was restrained so as not to make the dish oily with the medley of rich flavors of the chorizo, prawns, sausages, pork, chicken and saffron revealing itself with each spoonful.Happy Foodies Blog
