About Cebu

Set foot at the main airport and you’ll notice that Cebu is thriving: fast-paced, exciting and energetic it serves as the main economic, education, trade and commerce hub of Visayas. Not to mention that there are a wealth of natural seascapes, coasts, beaches and other thrills to discover here.

The city itself teems with life: it’s a busy metropolis much like Metro Manila but sightseers will have a lot of history to look forward to: the Basilica del Santo Niño contains the oldest religious relic in the Philippines, Fort San Pedro which has an open-air plaza, the Lapu-Lapu Monument and Magellan’s Cross are to name a few.

Vacationers looking for laidback leisure will find it in Mactan, where a few of Cebu’s most popular luxury hotels reside.

Must-tries in Cebu always involve their famous Lechon – one taste and you’ll find it’s heftier and headier in flavor that any you’ll find in Manila. Those who can brave the 4-hour trip to Oslob also can get a chance to swim with whale sharks. For world-class diving there’s Malapascua Island, but beachgoers who want both diving and a good beach experience should head to white-sanded Moalboal.

And not least, is the Sinulog Festival. A yearly event that draws both local and foreign tourists alike, it celebrates the Santo Niño, patron of Cebu with much fanfare. The annual procession has become a must-visit (at least once in a lifetime) for locals.
