About Bicol

The Bicol region is known to Manileños for their food: the spicy Bicol Express being one of the favorite local eats of those who reside in the city. But Bicol is indeed known for spice – as fiery cuisine is almost always on the menu when you pay a visit to this region.

Naga is one of the more popular areas, boasting not just a bustling city with universities, coffee shops, a lively nightlife and more. You can wakeboard, scuba and even go hiking within the vicinity. Thousands of devotees come here to visit the Peñafrancia Festival every September to celebrate Bicol’s patron saint and of course, to enjoy the festivities.

Legazpi is another one of Bicol’s main attractions, nestled at the foot of Mount Mayon. This is where you find gorgeous beaches and natural landmarks such as Ligñon Hill where you can get the perfect glimpse of Mount Mayon or Sleeping Lion Hill that presents a spectacular panorama of by the port. But what people love most is the sparkling waterfront complex called Embarcadero – with a huge mall, palm-flanked seafront, and a Skywalk for Mount Mayon, it’s a premier place to find all your holiday action in one place.

But the gem of Bicol is the Caramoan Islands – it’s like a different world from the usual local holiday. You’ll see a mountainous area swarthy with trees, jagged cliffs, aqua blue waters and spectacular strips of sand. It’s a famous on-location destination for International countries and was made most popular when they filmed a season of the US-based show Survivor here.
