You’re in for a Unique Beach Escape at Tugawe Cove Resort in Caramoan

by Vero Zamesa
November 22, 2018

When you think of the perfect beach trip, many things come to mind: pristine white sand, cool blue waters, tall coconut trees swaying in the breeze, and good ol’ peace and tranquility.

The Philippines is known for numerous seaside destinations, which is why the likes of Boracay, Palawan, and Cebu can get busy and crowded with both tourists and locals, even during non-peak seasons. The real beauty of living in this tropical country is that there are a hundred more options to choose from—and one of them is the Caramoan Peninsula of Camarines Sur.

The Caramoan Islands are located in the lower part of Camarines Sur, Bicol region. It has a 4,000-hectare limestone forest, with immaculate white sand beaches and rich, diverse marine life. Here you will find Tugawe Cove Resort, a real treat for the senses and a top choice for people who want to escape the city. Read on to find out why you should pencil in your next vacay at this impressive resort.

1. You can experience different ways of bonding with nature.

Looking for other ways to bond with nature other than swimming in the ocean? Tugawe Cove Resort has got you covered! From bioluminescent plankton watching, snorkeling (you can use the resort’s gear for free!) and bottom fishing, you have a number of options to choose from when it comes to water activities to try. Use of kayaks and stand-up paddle boards are also complimentary.

Of course, no seaside escape would be complete without some island hopping. What’s a stay in this oasis without checking out its nooks and crannies? Choose from island tours that feature these exciting destinations: Katanhawan Grande, Katanhawan Small, Pitogo Bay and Langtanganan (package A); Katanhawan Island, Pitogo Bay, Tinago Cove, Tayak Lake, Matukad Island and Lahos Island (package B); and Sabitang Laya, Cotivas and Manlawi Sandbar (package C). The best part is that Deal Grocer guests enjoy a 20% discount on these activities, so you can see as many sights as you wish.

Plus, some quick trivia: remember Survivor: Caramoan? The popular US reality competition was actually shot in Katanhawan Island and Lahos Island!

2. The resort is award-winning and world-class.

Tagged as one of the best remote luxury resorts in the country by CNN, the Tugawe Cove Resort truly lives up to its hype. Lined up together with already famous beach destinations such as Amanpulo in Palawan and Eskaya Beach Resort and Spa in Panglao, Bohol, the humble Camarines Sur resort has been getting its fair share of attention and praise from established news outlets as well. To quote CNN, “Hummingbirds, dense forests, limestone cliffs, waterfalls and lakes—Caramoan Island is an idyllic corner of south-central Philippines.”

While the resort may be relatively new and quite secluded, it has also received two prestigious awards from TripAdvisor Philippines: the coveted Traveler’s Choice and a spot in the Top 25 Small Hotels in the Philippines for two years straight.

3. You get to appreciate the diverse wildlife and flora of Tugawe.

Since the resort is situated at the edge of the forested area of Caramoan National Park, the bird wildlife here is constantly thriving. Some of these beautiful flying creatures you may spot are the Philippine hornbill and Philippine bulbul, both of which are known to be endemic to the country—to catch sight of them would definitely be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. It’s also highly possible you’ll get a glimpse of yellow orioles, pretty yellow birds that look fascinating in photos and IRL.

Majestic sea turtles have also reportedly returned to the area to feed. (Did you know that Caramoan got its name from Carahan because of the turtles that inhabited the peninsula in the olden times?) While the cove has experienced some damage due to blast fishing, the coral reefs in the area have been slowly but surely recovering.

4. You won’t get tired of taking in Caramoan’s surreal nature view.

Caramoan is said to be the Philippines’ “Secret Paradise”. With many islands to explore and countless natural wonders to take in, it really is one of the country’s most pleasant surprises. Imagine yourself sitting on the silky white sands of the beach and just taking in the glorious view of jungle-clad limestone mountains visible from the shore. Amazing, right?

You also can’t miss the views of Sombrero Island, Loto Island, and Litao Island. Plus, catch an awe-inspiring sunrise at the Colongcogong Lighthouse by following the trail from the resort. Once you get there, you can lay out a picnic blanket and enjoy some refreshments with your family and friends.

5. It boasts two stunning infinity pools.

Sure, infinity pools are quite common in many resorts now. But the presence of an infinity pool doesn’t bring much to the table if the view isn’t worth it.

Tugawe Cove Resort features two picturesque infinity pools, with one of them being especially hard to match. It’s lined with a row of cozy, inviting sun beds on one side and features the jaw-dropping view of the blue waters of Caramoan and nearby island on the other. It even landed its rightful place on’s list of 10 Resorts in the Philippines with Beautiful Infinity Pools.
