There's nothing quite as relaxing as spending quality time with your girl friends over at the south side of Metro Manila, where traffic is light and trees are aplenty.
Alabang, Las Piñas, and Parañaque have a lot to offer for those looking to avoid the usual haunts that get crowded on weekend nights. Not sure where to start? Check out our suggestions below:
1. Two things: dessert and board games.
A little more exciting than a cafe date, but more chill than a shopping spree: Puzzles Board Game Lounge in the Molito Complex of Alabang is the perfect in-between. For P100 per person, you and your friends can access their entire game shelf, which includes giant Jenga, Game of Thrones, and even local board games! And if you get hungry from being super competitive, they’ve got pasta, burgers, and dessert shakes for you.
2. Get fancy.
Beer or wine? Why not both? At The Black Pig Charcuterie Bar and Restaurant in Commercenter Muntinlupa, you’ll find great European cuisine to pair with their wide selection of draft beers and wines. The Black Pig Charcuterie Board allows you to customize a meat-and-cheese platter (jamón ibérico, chorizo, salchichon, the works) that the entire group can share.
3. Enjoy a feast of global cuisines.
Want an upscale buffet experience? Cafe 8 at Crimson Hotel Filinvest City offers a variety of eat-all-you-can international fare—that way, everyone’s cravings are satisfied (read: no more debating between Chinese or Italian for dinner).
4. Drink up...with a view.
Bellevue Hotel Alabang’s Vue Bar boasts one of the best rooftop views in the South. And with cocktails like the Mango Sling, the Mexican Mule (for tequila lovers), and the Bourbon Peach Smash, you’re sure to get a nice buzz to boot.
5. Get a relaxing massage.
Is there any activity more fitting for the most laid-back area of the Metro than a spa day? Wind down at the Lurra Wellness Spa, Acacia Hotel Manila for a 90-minute aromatherapy massage that’s sure to recharge you after a long work week.
6. Chow down.
If you love having group dinners at Chef Bruce Ricketts’s Ooma and Mecha Uma, then a visit to Sensei Sushi—his initial venture into Japanese cuisine—is worth the trip even for the most adamant north-dwellers. You’ll find it along BF Homes Parañaque’s expansive Aguirre Avenue, where food havens and chill bars are lined up wall-to-wall. Itadakimasu!
7. Make it a staycation.
Let’s be real—an afternoon in the south isn’t nearly enough time. If you’re not from the area, why not go the extra mile and book an entire weekend away? Enjoy the uniquely easygoing atmosphere at Parque España, where a three-bedroom suite (!!!) awaits you and your crew. You’re never gonna want to leave.
