Get a Hair Makeover at These Tried-and-Tested Salons in the South

Whether you’re in need of bespoke grooming, a deep conditioning treatment, or a new look for a special event, these barber shops and salons in the south of Metro Manila have got your back (or hair!).

1. Creations by Lourd Ramos Salon

If it had to come down to one thing, what makeup/hair brand ambassador and TV personality Lourd Ramos wanted to provide through his eponymous salons was a luxury experience that’s still very much accessible. And so, for four years, Creations has been serving their BF Homes clientele with cuts, color, hair treatments, makeup and hairstyling, and even spa services that offer quality without the huge price tag.

Look for Glenn when you get a cut (men’s cuts at ₱300 and women’s cuts at ₱350), and get a color treatment done while you’re at it (full color starts at ₱1,500). If you’re going for makeup and hairstyling—also one of their specialties—look for Creations creative artist Christian Toledo (₱1,500), who has worked on personalities like Catriona Gray and Tim Yap. Of course, you’ll be in more than capable hands if Lourd Ramos himself takes care of your look (₱2,500).

2. Bond St. Social

To get to know what this barber shop is all about, just take its name in. Bond St. refers to the historic street in London, where the world’s oldest barber shop—established way back in 1805—can be found. Then there’s Social, which speaks about what the shop ultimately wants to foster: a community. “Our goal is to provide quality haircuts for the gentlemen of the south and to create a community built on knowing each other,” shares Jedidiah Patricio, Bond St. Social founder.

Founded in 2015, Bond St. Social looks like your old school barber shop, but its barbers are equipped to do anything and everything from traditional cuts to more modern fades. The quality of each cut is what encourages clients to keep coming back. Because at Bond St. Social, they don’t just take a little off the top or the side and call it a day, they give you a full experience. Try the Cut N’ Rinse (₱280) or an Undercut (₱320), or go for full grooming with a Cut N’ Shave (₱560).

3. Acqua Salon


At a time when all sorts of businesses are fleeting—salons included—Acqua is a rare establishment that continues to stand the test of time. A South staple for the past 13 years and counting, it’s built itself as a one-stop shop for every possible beauty, grooming, and wellness treatment you can think of: cuts, color, mani-pedis, makeup, hair removal, and even massages. Here, you can take a step toward getting that new hairstyle you’ve been poring over for months (men’s cuts at ₱395, women’s cuts from ₱350 to ₱450), or just refresh your look with a Bangs Cut (₱200) or a Beard Cut (₱180).

If you’re thinking of just getting one thing done, the hair color treatments are a must-try (starts at ₱1,550 for full color or cellophane and ₱1,000 for highlights). Acqua stylists go through hair color training every month to keep themselves updated on new techniques. Want to go all out by getting a cut and a treatment to go along with the color? Save more by going for the Platinum package (starts at ₱4,550), which includes a cut, highlights, color, and a treatment.

4. Jing Monis Salon (JMS) Alabang

In 2011, celebrity makeup artist and hairstylist Jing Monis launched his eponymous salon in the south, finding the perfect home for it inside pioneer south hotel The Bellevue Manila. His salons have the same reputation Jing Monis himself has built over 25 years. As a leading mainstay in an otherwise fickle industry, Jing has made his name synonymous—and the salons that carry it—with innovative and top-notch technique and service.

Not to be missed: a cut by a JMS senior stylist (₱700), or even Jing Monis himself (₱3,500). If you want to try a best-seller, go for the JMS Signature Overdose Treatment, which not only treats dry and dehydrated hair, but also prevents it from breaking by sealing each hair strand from root to tip. Have a special event? Get your makeup done by a JMS lead makeup artist (₱3,000) or have a seat in Jing Monis’ makeup chair (₱5,000).
