We often find ourselves daydreaming about taking a break from work. But if you’re craving some quick R&R and the daydreaming just won’t suffice, Batangas is the most accessible place for a getaway.

Situated just a stone’s throw away from the hustle and bustle of Manila, Batangas is where you can find different beaches and resorts to suit your taste. For a quick dose of vitamin sea, the beaches in Nasugbu are perfect. Are sports and water activities your thing? Go to Lago de Oro in Calatagan. But if peace and tranquility are what you seek, Laiya in San Juan is your best bet.

Laiya is one of the more popular vacation destinations in Batangas as it has a slew of resort options to fit your budget, activity plans, and specific needs. Going here will take you about 2 and half up to 4 hours, with two route options. You can either take the SLEX and San Pablo Laguna straight to Laiya or drive through Star Tollway to Lipa, then exit to Laiya.

The place is best known for its long stretch of beach, which is why it's home to a lot of resorts you can choose from. Here, we give you a breakdown of the best places to stay at while in Laiya.

1. Acuaverde Beach Resort

Upon arriving in Acuaverde Beach Resort, the first thing you’ll notice is how quiet and peaceful the place is. Peppered with tall tamarind trees, native beach huts, and quaint houses, stepping inside the realms of this resort instantly relaxes you. Add to that the sound of the gentle waves and you know you’re in for a restful stay.

Once you hit the beachfront, you’ll notice how wide and neat their shoreline is. It doesn’t have Boracay-white sand, but it’s still pretty nice. You can play along the shoreline after taking a quick dip in the ocean, or sunbathe to get your most coveted tan. Not a fan of the sun? Make use of Acuaverde’s multiple cabanas and beach chairs and simply relax. If you’re up for some other activities, you can use the resort’s table tennis and foosball to while the time away with your family and friends.

Acuaverde has rooms perfect for a couple's escape, a barkada trip, or even a family reunion. Corporate team buildings have also been held here. Their rooms are equipped with your basic necessities, and meals are already tucked into the cost. Choose from either buffet or a la carte, which you can enjoy inside your rooms or at the big beach hut found at the very center of the resort.

One thing that’s missing in Acuaverde is a swimming pool but trust us, it’s not a total dealbreaker. If you’re really looking for somewhere to unwind and appreciate Mother Nature’s beauty, this place may be just what you need.

2. Acuatico Beach Resort and Hotel

The resort is simply luxurious. Their Balinese-inspired villas, which can accommodate around 70 guests, are definitely IG-worthy. The rooms are pretty and clean, perfect for that much-needed relaxation alone, with a friend, or with a special someone. Looking to book some rest days with the fam? Acuatico has amazing casitas that can house up to 6 people. Book one of these houses and prepare for a completely relaxing day off.

Since Acuatico has a pool, guests can be seen lounging here or chilling at the veranda, munching on snacks from the bar, or sipping on drinks with the awesome view of the pool and the ocean. Breakfast buffet is included in their room rates, and you can even opt for a dinner buffet at a rate of ₱700/head.

Acuatico Beach’s shoreline is vast and relatively clean. Though the sand is not as fine and some rocks and pebbles might get in your way, the resort makes sure it’s tidy and safe for guests. Take your time basking under the sun at the beach’s wide shoreline. Up for water activities? Kayaks and jet skis are available for rent! Just check in with the concierge and they’ll happily help you out.

If Acuaverde Resort’s forest-like vibe is something you fancy, Sabangan Beach Resort is a great alternative. Surrounded by lush trees and cool beach huts, prepare to be spellbound by the natural charm of this resort.

Sabang is filled with multiple cottages, some even with their own veranda and lounge area. Each room has complimentary toiletries and towels, and plush beds and pillows are ready for you to sink into. Getting hungry? A huge pavilion is the main dining area of the resort. Guests can take advantage of the infinity pool with Jacuzzis, as the beach is not highly recommended to swim on especially once it hits low tide. The infinity pool is a good area for guests to while time away by sunbathing. Cabanas are also available if you’re up for some meditation before an awesome view of the beach.

The cottages and rooms are fairly new and have all the basic necessities you’ll need. For a classic bonding experience with friends and family, a playground for kids and a wall climbing area for adults are also available. Don't want to miss Sunday mass? For travelers who are looking for a budget-friendly resort in Laiya, Buracai De Laiya is worth checking out. It's a 5-storey resort with rates that are relatively low compared to others in the area. Rooms can go for as low as ₱2,500 so it’s definitely the smart, thrifty choice for practical travelers.

One concern with this resort is that cellphone signals are pretty unstable, but you can take advantage of this as a chance to bond with your friends and family. After all, vacations are best for spending quality time offline.

The resort has a swimming pool too, so you can choose where you’d like to take a dip. This side of the Laiya beach strip is known to be a little rocky so it’s best to wear your aqua shoes when frolicking at the beach. The real showstopper in Buracai de Laiya?
