Siargao used to be a seemingly untouched, almost mythical island that only the most adventurous and brave would find their way to, via two plane rides and a boat ride from Manila.
But with the influx of direct flights from the metro, more people from around the country (and the world!) have discovered its magical vibe and remarkable surf, and the once quiet town now teems with activity and tourism. Locals and business owners hope the place develops in a way that honors their beloved island—a desire reflected in the thoughtful, holistic-minded restaurants and hotels that cater to visitors seeking to find healing in the waters of Surigao del Norte.
Siargao may easily be one of the most wellness-friendly tourist destinations in the country, with a variety of restaurants (many vegetarian or vegan as well) that offer healthy, colorful plates chockfull of feel-good, nutritious ingredients.
1. Shaka Siargao
One of the original healthy go-to spots along Siargao’s General Luna, Shaka is not only known for its stunningly Instagrammable yogurt fruit bowls that are power-packed with goodness, but for keeping guests on their toes with their seasonal menu as well. The quaint spot has open doors and a porch where visitors can enjoy the breeze and sunlight while tucking into a cold, refreshing breakfast bowl. Fuel up with the Super Bowl (₱250), a mix of quinoa, fruit, granola, yogurt, and honey.

2. Wheely’s Café
Wheely’s Café is an international chain that takes pride in being a mobile café on bicycle wheels, but the local franchise brings its own spin to the concept with a vegan menu. Though the one in Siargao is actually a walk-in store, it's worth bringing your own rented wheels over to for a taste of their Sushi Sandwich, with naturally seasoned tofu, sweet Sriracha sauce, and alugbati leaves.

3. Eco Garden
Eco Garden refers to itself as not only a vegetarian restaurant but one that is ecologically sound as well—thus the name reflecting their dedication to the environment. Because they were once called Eco Hummus Beach Garden, it would be in your best interest to go for any of their smooth, creamy hummus platters that are good and filling enough to serve as meals in themselves.

4. Kali Ma Café at Lotus Shores
Formerly known as Peace Kitchen, Kali Ma Café at Lotus Shores describes itself as a restaurant that offers fresh, plant-based food, with produce grown in their gardens and nothing coming from a plastic bag or tin can. Lotus Shores has been on the island for a few years, and in that time has developed a thriving garden within their commune. You can’t go wrong with their popular Baked Cauliflower Kofta Balls, while their desserts taste as wonderful as they look.

5. Pleasure Point Café
The spot has been in Siargao since 2014, angling themselves specifically as a place that brings coffee culture to the simple island, but their creative (and vegan) cake loaves that are often packed with superfoods not only complement the hot cups of java but make Pleasure Point a destination for guilt-free sweets. Surprise your taste buds with a thick, rich, dreamy, moist vegan cake. Their carrot-flaxseed cake with coconut icing is a textural treat, while the choco-coco cake tastes absolutely sinful (except it's not!).

6. Kitya’s Place
Kitya’s Place stands out for its eclectic interiors that are made with upcycled materials. This unique aesthetic is also reflected in their menu, which offers an array of flavors and influences to create a worldly experience. Here, you can get relatively healthy yet fun and creative takes on comfort food like the coconut crusted chicken fingers (₱200), or reliable staples like the shakshuka (eggs poached in vegetarian stew) (₱230), a dish that's popular among its vegetarian patrons.
