5 Ways Saddle Row Can Help You Meet Your #FitnessGoals

by Marla Miniano-Umali
October 30, 2018

A lot can happen in a year.

Around this time in 2017, you practically had to drag me out of the house—and even then, I’d probably just run right back and lock the door to save myself—to get me to work out in public. My introverted personality, coupled with my perceived physical weaknesses, left me terrified of exercising in front of other people. A bajillion worries and questions flooded my mind. What if I made a fool of myself? What if I fainted and had to be rolled out on a stretcher? What if I DIED?

Everyone I spoke to about my apprehensions kept reassuring me it was going to be all right. But it wasn’t until one of my closest friends, a full-time fitness guru and my #fitspiration for life, invited me to try out an indoor row class at the launch of Saddle Row’s Rockwell branch that I finally decided to (wo)man up and conquer my fears.

Fast-forward to today, and a Saddle Row visit is actually a stress-buster and a reward, something I look forward to in the middle of a work week or as a weekend treat. I feel myself becoming physically stronger with each session, pleasantly surprising myself with how sweating it out no longer feels like a chore. Not gonna lie, vanity is as strong and valid a motivation as health, and I’ve been seeing visible results in that department, too—my clothes fit better, my posture has improved, and sometimes, when the light hits just right, some baby abs even peek through! It’s been such a fun and fulfilling fitness experience that I actually find myself encouraging anyone who will listen that they absolutely need to try out a class for themselves. I mean, who is she?

If you’re ready to make the change as well and finally embrace your #FitnessGoals, here are five reasons to sign up for a package with Saddle Row—back and better than ever right here on Deal Grocer!

Your Fitness Goal: To Start—and Sustain—a Routine

Completely new to cycling and rowing, or need to get back on the saddle (literally) after taking a break? This 10-Class Pass is perfect for first-timers, and available to those who haven’t been to the studio in 2 months. Offering different classes with varying levels of difficulty, Saddle Row guarantees there’s no need to be intimidated even with little to zero experience. Remember, everyone was a beginner once!

With this package amounting to a very reasonable ~₱500 per class, you may stock up and combine coupons for an extended membership, so you can sustain your fitness routine without making a huge dent in your pocket. It’s also valid in both sparkling new branches, Rockwell and Bonifacio High Street, which means you won’t have a problem squeezing a workout into your schedule.

Your Fitness Goal: To Find Your Favorite Workout

Whether you like heart-pounding music and party-themed rides, or prefer rowing it out at an explosive, bootcamp-style circuit session, you’re bound to discover the one that suits you best among the diverse array of classes.

Cyclers may choose from The Underground (a full-body dance workout on the bike that will tighten, tone, and sculpt in all the right places) The Exchange (numbers-based cycling, great for those with a competitive streak), or The Resistance (a test of strength and stamina through resistance band exercises); while rowers can take their pick among Finesse (rowing basics paired with dynamic but beginner-friendly cardio and functional training), Crew (kickass team rowing that aims to hit those targets), and Circuit (an intense on- and off-the-rower routine that builds muscle and endurance).

Your Fitness Goal: To Bond with Your Crew

Never underestimate the power of having consistent workout buddies who motivate and encourage you, even on days when you’re feeling sluggish or out of shape. This class pass can be given as a Gift Voucher—the perfect Christmas present—or shared with a maximum of 9 other friends or family members. Because the squad that sweats together, slays together!

Your Fitness Goal: To Challenge Yourself

Saddle Row’s passionate, dedicated instructors are committed to giving you the best workout every single time, while supporting you at whatever stage of your fitness journey you’re in. Classes are always challenging, and will consistently push your limits so that you can reap the physical and emotional (hello, endorphins!) rewards of being #SaddleStrong as well.

Want to monitor and evaluate your growth? Saddle Row is the only studio that uses Performance IQ, an indoor cycling system that tracks and projects the performance of every rider onto a display screen. After every ride, your performance results will be emailed directly to you. The studio also holds special annual events like the recently concluded Regatta, which helps foster healthy competition and a genuine sense of community.

Your Fitness Goal: To Have Fun!

You have to admit: sometimes a good workout all boils down to how much fun you’re having. Feel your spirits soar as you reach and drive in their roomy, well-designed rowing studios, or throw your hands up in the air with the biggest grin on your face as you pedal and pulse to the beat in their hip, modern cycling spaces. The energetic playlists and creative music mashup-themed rides (Empire of the Sun x Phoenix, anyone?) ensure each enjoyable class keeps you on your toes, making you look forward to the next time—and the next, and the next—that you’ll be back to work up a sweat.
