5 Fitness Hubs Where You Can Work Out in Cebu

Little did I know that when I left Cebu 5 years ago, the fitness scene was just starting.

Fast forward to today and Cebu has transformed into a thriving hub for the health-conscious. Gyms and fitness boutique centers of all sorts have sprouted across the city to cater to anyone pursuing an active lifestyle.

So if you find yourself in the Queen City of the South, here’s a list of places where you can work up a sweat!

1. Fitness Nation

Fitness Nation should be your first stop if you're looking for a gym with top-of-the-line equipment and professional, friendly trainers. 50+ group classes are offered weekly with class types ranging from Les Mills to Zumba.

Located at Streetscape along Maria Luisa Road in Banilad, the 900-sqm gym is indeed spacious. There's plenty of space for you to stretch, lift, run, bike, and TRX among others! Fitness Nation is also a terrific choice for night owls, as they are open from 6AM to midnight every day.

2. Zink

Sometimes, dragging yourself to the gym is an exercise in self-motivation. At Zink, however, brings out the 'work' in their workouts.

Located on the 2nd floor of Banilad Town Center, this lifestyle hub is known for bringing the indoor cycling craze to Cebu. Zink's quarters are blazoned with colors and flashy neon lights (at least in the spinning room). It's perfect if you want to sneak in a 50-minute intense cardio workout that can burn up to 600-800 calories per session!

If indoor cycling isn't your thing, join other fellow Zinkers in other addictive group classes that include HIIT, circuit training, and TRX.

3. ALA Boxing and Fitness Gym

At the end of a hectic day, the feeling of destroying a weighted bag with your fists is quite common. Perhaps that’s taking it a little too far, but the physical merits of boxing should not be overlooked.

Also located on the 2nd floor of Banilad Town Center, ALA Gym is where you can learn the fundamentals of boxing. At the same time, develop stamina and full-body conditioning too at a walk-in rate of only P250.

4. Yoga Hub

Yoga Hub is a peaceful oasis for yogis and yoginis alike. Reap the benefits of a sound mind and a healthy body through a variety of classes that range from Beginners to Power Yoga that caters to all kinds of fitness levels.

Conveniently located in the mall area of Banilad Town Center, this premier yoga hub has everything for beginners and experts. Both heated and non-heated classes are offered as well.

5. Cebu IT Park

And then there are those days when you just want to stick to the old-school choice of exercise: running. If the thought of running on a treadmill bores you, then an outdoor jog around Cebu IT Park is your best bet.

Located in Lahug, Cebu IT Park is a popular live-work-play environment where joggers are a regular fixture. I recommend jogging in the early in the morning or post-rush hour in the late evenings to avoid the flow of cars as possible.

And yes, it won't cost you a single peso. Plus, looking for a post-workout eat right after certainly won't be a problem.
